Hi guys, I'm going on a cruise tomorrow with my husband and daughters, and one of the ports of call is Morroco, Tangier, now my mother in law has just returned from the same cruise and has told us to stay on the ship and avoid Morroco at all costs, she said we'll be robbed, raped, kidnapped, murdered etc, so has anyone any advice for me, cheers

lol its nowhere near that bad, i spent a few days in tangier back in december, never encountered any problems outside one or two hassling us to give them money.

not sure where the cruise ships stop, if its the port then you are only a short walk from the beach, which despite being a little dirty (ok alot :o) is huge and they have camels

ahh, mmm, the beach in tangier, there's a lot of beggers around on the one in tangier itself,, there not bad just don't be swinging your handbag around. There a nice people in general, really chatty and the hate the spanish, so it's allways good to give out about them.

The Kasbah is definatly worth a walk around in tangier, it's like stepping back 1000 years. It's full of quirky little shops and cafes. It might be best to get a guide to take you round and meet the locals. It would maybe only cost €20 but he would keep the beggers away and show you all the good sights and take you out to some beaches where's there no beggers..

It's funny to walk down the street and there's a little boy flicking on the shop lights as you walk along, the taxi ranks are usually on a hill and they just roll the taxi down to you, they really don't waste a thing.

I'd definatly get off the boat. I'd prepare the kids though you are in africa so expect some strange people, creatures and sights. enjoy!!

ohh, and women don't like their picture to be taken, they can run away if you pull out your camera near them, It's bad luck and is bad for the spirit.
