    Hi,
Myslef and partner just got engaged last week. We were wondering could anyone suggest places in Cork to look for them. Somebody mentioned a place in Ballincollig to us before - but don't know names or anything. Also is there anywhere in cork to try antique rings.

Would we be better off going up North for rings? Better valve with lower VAT?

    Cheers!

i think the jewellers u are looking for is Askoy in Ballincollig, they also have a store in Cork City, beside Oasis. They are really helpful in there and have some gorgeous stuff.

I got my engagement ring in Keanes. It's beautiful but they are quite pricey. We git our wedding rings made in Askoy and they are stunning so two good places. In terms of value for money askoy are reasonable and IMO charge a fair price

we went up north looking for our wedding rings and to be honest they were no cheaper. We looked in Enniskillen and Newry. Very happy with the guy we're using in Dublin but thats prob a bit of a trip for you

I have never been so insulted than by Gerard Jnr in Keanes in Cork last Saturday. I know that I have little posts but I feel that I have to share the following with you as its a joke what happened to my wife and I.

I paid well a lot (not to get too specific) for her engagement ring last year, she is worth every penny. We dealt with an older lady who was excellent and were very happy with everything.

So we got married and we went to New York as part of our honeymoon. In the diamond district we got our wedding bands as we used cheaper rings for the wedding as it would be there anyways.

We bought our rings but both were slightly too big for both of us. My wife and I brought them into Keanes Cork near the end of July to get them both resized. I was told that my band may not be perfect when made smaller due to it had a pattern. That was fine with me as a nic/dent wouldn't be an issue for me.

So my wife picked up the rings one day, was in a rush didn't look at the ring but just put it on. My ring was fine but a day later she noticed that two of the diamonds were black and major flaw in the ring.

So she brought back the ring. They said it would take 2 weeks but it took about 5 weeks for it to get repaired. Then I said that I would go in with her to get the ring. It was still not right, I asked to see the manager and this guy mentioned above came over. He was like the woman out of little Britain "computer says no" saying why did my wife not look at the ring when she got it back the first time and that they are not responsible for any error made during re-sizing the ring. He made no sence and was one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with.

The lady in front of us in the que had bought a watch in October and it had some wear and tear damage. They said it would not be covered by guarantee. Even if it wasn't the way they told her was far from nice to say the least.

All I am saying if you really want to buy your rings etc here. Hang out by the repair desk for 10 mins and you will see the dreadful way they seem deal with ever customer.

PS I can be contacted directly about other stories that I have heard since that happened but I don't want to post them here but some are like something you would see on prime time.

People are afraid to bad mouth them

I am going to take them to the smalls claims court and ask that any compo be given to any charity as its a matter of principle here
