I have recently got my hands on some Seymour Duncan pups given to me by a mate who didnt want them anymore and am I thinking about installing them in my Tokai LP.

Is this a big job, would it be something I could do myself (I can use a screwdriver and a soldering iron alright), and also if I dont think they suit, could I switch em back handy enough????

Yeah its not too big a job, best bet if your a bit worried about it is to go onto the Seymour Duncan website, they have a forum in their support section which is a wealth of guidance, really helped me out when I started. I would suggest reading up on there.

All the relevent schematics etc are also available on the website. You should be able to switch em back no hassle once you dont cut the lead too short.

Just make sure you study the wiring diagram. Don't just go by where the wires on your old pickup were. When I first installed a Seymour Duncan JB SH-4 in a fat strat, I made the mistake of just soldering the same coloured wires to the same contacts the old one was attached to, not realising that the JB's polarity was actually opposite to the one I took out!

Also, be carefull when snipping the insulation off the wires. When I did it for the first time i cut them all off completley. :) Luckily enough there was still room on wither side of the wires to connect them together again.

    yep its quite easy

if you have never soldererd anything before
    practice on loose wires

let the iron get good an hot so you can do the job quick,
if you let the iron sit on the pots too long its possible you will fry them
"tin" the areas first as well
