Hi all, i'm looking for advice on how i should train for the 10 mile in Aug and possibly the half in Sept...depending on how the 10 goes.I'll have no problem doing the 5 mile in a few weeks time, just ran 8ml today in an hour. Currently i train for hurling mon and wed evening, run on tue and thu evening and each 2nd sun i have a game. Diet, mindset and energy levels are fine, just conditioning is needed really and as i'm not classed as a long distance runner, i'm hoping some of the more experienced of you can have some wise words for me, and any others gonna try it out:)

Have a look at the training plans on Hal Higdon website.

As 911sc says, take a took at some generic training programmes. Those on http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/default.asp?sp=&v=1 are worth checking out too.

Seems to me you are plenty fit enough and just need a little planning to get around your other commitments.

Then you'll be a professional like us :pac:

Thanks for the links there, they have helped me get an image of what i should do over the next 3 weeks or so, as the race is in 4 weeks time:)

I would be reasonably fit yeah so i doubt the training will be a problem as was mentioned in the last post there, its the scheduling:P
