    Hi,

I booked a flight to France for my family in a few weeks. I booked the flight with Ryanair and used my wife's married name, however on her passport her surname is double-barrelled, her's and mine. Will this be an issue? She doesn't have any photo id with her married name on it. If it will be an issue, can someone tell me what would be the best solution. ta

Also, we want to hire a car in France, anyone got any recommendations regards price or would i be just aswell off booking through the old reliable Hertz.

    thanks :)

Passport not a problem. I've booked flights for people with double-barrells before, using only the last part of their surname and they travelled with no problem.

Do a google for the airport you're flying into and see what car hire agencies are there and compare prices.

    thanks mikedragon, got a car....

someone mentioned to me that there was a change on May 17th this year, i've no idea what this is, but from that date the name on photo id has to be same as what's on flight booking...

one other query, if we want to bring a buggy, do we have to check that in as baggage, we haven't done it online, will we be able to do it on the day?

new to all this family travel, a different experience :D

I can't answer that, but from a few weeks time on, I'll need to know the answer to that too! :D

Regarding the 17th May, I think that's the date from which all check-ins had to be done online, so the same rules as always apply to that. If your still in doubt, best bet is to contact Ryanair's infamous Customer "Service".

As regards the car hire check out hertz via Ryan Air's site it's very competitive. I got a great quote from them for 7 seater carhire in France in July - it was almost €400 cheaper than the next best one,

    www.easycar.com or www.travelsupermarket.com I find the cheapest.

As regards the passport part of the question I would just give Ryanair a buzz to be on the safe side.

The buggy question - What check in option do you have? Online or airport?

If it s Airport check in then you will just need to tell the check in agent you have a buggy. They will then tag it for you and either take it from you to put on the plane or you take it to the plane and leave it at the front steps to be loaded on.

Not too sure what you do for online check in as its only within the last few weeks they have allowed infants to check in on line. I would imagine that you take the buggy to the bag tag and drop desks and ask the check in agent what to do. Either that or ask them when you call about the passport.

In either case you do not have to pay for the buggy.

ETA - just checked the website and I guessed right

Passengers travelling with infants who have checked in online and printed their boarding passes should take any checked baggage (including pushchairs/ infant equipment) to the Airport Bag Drop desk where it will be tagged and sent to the aircraft. The Bag Drop Desks close 40 minutes prior to the scheduled flight departure time.
