Securing exit row seats???

Hey guys, Just a quick question. I am flying to Washington with Aer Lingus next Monday. I went to pick my seat online and got a seat directly in front of the exit row. Does anybody know if Aer Lingus release the exit rows on the day of departure and is it a first come first served? Any help or tips appreciated!

i thought you could buy exit row seats but they cost a lot more..am pretty sure I did this before with aer lingus

maybe its different for long-haul flights

The seats in front of the exit rows may not recline, so they may not be very good.
