Hi, I'm applying for primary school jobs and I havn't been called for any interviews, I think my cv is very basic and I was just wandering what kind of things do principals like to see on a cv?

    Bit harsh!

I'm not a teacher but in general I think a CV that really sells yourself, promotes the positive aspects of your character is a good idea. I did this before my last job application and they hired me so it must have worked! Basically I didn't just list my experience but gave details of what I did in them so as to show every skill I picked up in them. Was hard to keep this brief as a CV that is really long does not do any favours either. My friend was shown by a guidance counsellor how to do this kind of CV so she passed it on to me. It helps to make it stand out, I'd imagine from their point of view that looking at basic lists of previous experience and college courses can look fairly similar after a while.

A good opener is key. Mine is a bit like this... and I've had loads of luck getting interviews and call backs...

I think it set's the tone and interests the reader.

    Personal Profile:
Highly focused, dynamic, motivated professional individual with experience in and exposure to many elements of ............, who possesses sound decision making capabilities. Excels whilst working in a fast paced environment and motivated by deadlines, targets and delivery timescales. A motivator who is capable of developing relationships across all organizational levels, but who is equally motivated by working as a sole contributor and who continually displays vision, commitment and an impeccable work ethic and attitude.

In fairness, there are lots of people having the same problem, and I wouldn't say it's because your CV is necessarily bad.
there's a shortage of jobs, lots of people are blaming themselves /their skillsets or CV's for not getting called but it's mostly really because there are no jobs.

You can write you're dynamic, motivated, and that you can fly, but in my opinion and as the one who's getting the CV's sent in here, it makes no difference, we have no jobs, so we just send the Dear Johns.

The CV's that are most basic without the frills, but all of the facts are the ones that we call when there are vacancies, not the ones that self appraise too much. They're slightly annoying to be honest.
    Facts are key. Good luck!

A short piece of blurb about yourself, which summarises you in a paragraph is always a good idea.

Make sure to keep it free of buzzwords and bullsh*t but emphasise your qualities and experiences.

Im afraid it might be nothing to do with your CV , but the fact that its very hard for teachers to get a job now , for the simple reason being that the market is over saturated with teachers at the moment , and school budgets keep being slashed so its hard even for teachers with 1/2 years experience to hang onto their jobs at the moment.
