Just wondering if there's anywhere in college where you can go to throw around a ball etc. and not get kicked off by security. For some reason anything that constitutes a ball sport draws the uniforms faster than bees to honey. Occasionally they'll ignore you if your on the rugby pitch around lunch time but that's becoming rarer.

Does anyone actually know why they have such a problem with ball sports? It can't be to save the ground because they allow runners on the cricket pitch all the time. The only thing I can think of is theres some sort of health and safety aspect if a by stander gets hit by a ball but thats an extermely unlikely occurance especially if your out in the middle of the grass.

The cricket pitch has a running track. As for why ball sports arn't allowed, shrug. Maybe because thats not what the areas were intended for.

Sports can damage the surface. The cricket needs a flat surface to play on.

Sliding tackles, falls, trips etc can result in a poor playing surface.

Its a load of cock cause it resulted in me having to go out to Santry alot!

And the poor playing surfaces out at santry result in..."Sliding tackles, falls, trips etc"

The security doesn't want cricket field to contain even a minor bump, but is cricket still played there?

    You for real?

Cricket season starts around mid may and is played at least every two days.

Of course not, it's far too important for that.

Not really. College Green is the only place with a cricket pitch

You also can't play football on the area reserved for frisbee, which makes absolute zero sense.

Well we were playing football in that garden area, and thrown of by security guards cos it's reserved for frisbee and volleyball apparently. Bearing in mind we were the only people there, it seemed a bit ridiculous.

Ah. The good old physics garden - we used play the odd game of tip rugby there as well actually.

typical trinity, the security goes totally overboard,i left my bag under the benches in the ham,and a secrity guard went mad at me saying how it could have caused a bomb scare,I mean for gods sake!

Physics garden is okay, and if you look like you're playing "nicely" (i.e. not violently kicking the ball and hitting it off bushes/cars/etc) you'll prolly get away with it.

I remember the days of summer Pavving, where you'd just alternate between rugby pitch, cricked pitch, physics garden and even that tree-filled area with the sculpture in it, just switching every time security came over to give out.
