Is there any such thing. work in a small 10 person office and have no showering facilities. the cost to my boss would have to be minimal to get him to put one in.

was thinking of doing the 32km trip from balbriggan to drumcondra once or twice a week.

guess the other option is a cloth, towel and deo.

Not that I know of. Would be a good idea though. WHere's that political action thread... typing: it's the new activism.

Employer shower grants? In today's economic environment?

Might get the builders back working I suppose...

I'd fire you and employ someone prepared to drive. :D

Why you think the cost of putting in a shower would be 'minimal'. If you think it so 'minimal', why don't you offer to pay for it yourself. After, all, it's just for your benefit. Don't forget the cost of heating the water for it and paying someone to clean it.

i meant the cost would have to be minimal for him (post grant) in order for him to accept it like. and i would happily make a small contribution towards other costs.

I know reading is very difficult but we all win if you make the effort.

    i agree with kennyb

but your boss would just turn around and say " you wanna cycle to work " do it but im not paying for a shower for you etc

If he put in a shower and encouraged his staff to cycle in then they'd be healthier (less sick days), there'd be less chance of getting stuck in traffic so they'd be more inclined to be in on time. When I cycle to work I'm full of energy when I get in so I'm more productive (that's when I'm not on this site). So it would be in his best interest to put showers in.:P

You need to sell the idea to him. The 'less sick days' argument is a good start. Also mention that it would be of value to those who commute by running or energetic walking, or those who want to go for a run at lunchtime, or for the girlies who like to have a full makeover before heading out on the tear on Friday night. If the office has parking, you can highlight that you'll be freeing up a parking space for use by others too.

See if you can get colleagues to support your approach too.
