I see the HSE had 15 laptops stolen at the weekend, they say 13 were encypted and 2 weren't. I'm guessing they use HDD passwords anyone know what kind of protection they give our medical data?

I'd say our medical data is on servers. Hopefully not on laptops (although you never know with some users).

Probably disk level encryption based on winlogin, even removing the disks and putting in another computer wont allow access

Most Gov agencies use winmagic for their encryption. Also info on the laptop would depend on if they are citrix or not cos if they are then data is on a server.

Bord Gáis customer details on stolen laptops

A laptop computer containing bank account details of 75,000 Bord Gáis customers has been stolen in Dublin.

It is understood the confidential information was held on one of four laptops stolen from the offices of Bord Gáis nearly two weeks ago.

    The computer was not encrypted.
