    Hey lads,

Just wondering what my situation is.

Im flying to LAX through Toronto.

So basically i gotta travel from Dublin - Toronto (Canada)

    And then into LAX (USA)

Now what will the immigration be like in this situation?

Will i have to go through immigration in Toronoto AND LAX or what?

Do i need forms for Canada and USA?

I have done my ESTA and have a valid passport.

Heading this weekend so some replies would be nice especially if youve been
    in a similar situation.

    Thanks

In that situation you will go thru US immigration in Canada. They have the same setup as we do in Dublin and Shannon.

Except in Canada you will check in, and then bring your baggage with you thru customs and then hand it over, not check it in and hand it over first like here.

Correct. They have the full immigration and customs set up whereas we only have the immigration element here.

Cheers lads, so you reckon i will have to pick up my baggage in Toronto and that it will not be sent straight to LAX?

And i will collect my baggage in Toronto then go through US customs? Then put my baggage through, board and not have to go through customs in the US?

    Confusing this!

You are 100% correct. You collect your bags in Toronto and then go thru US immigration and customs. Your bags are then taken to the plane.

When you land in LAX the flight is treated as a domestic flight and there are no further checks.

No probs! Heading to NY the same way myself on Sunday so I've been doing my research. Theres a video there aswell for procedures on the way back which seems handier as the luggage goes straight through.

    Enjoy your trip!
