My neighbor rented there house over a year ago to 4 people. Now that 4 people have turned into 7 (two kids included). I'm trying to find out how many people the house was rented to and whats the max allowed.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Totally up to the house owner. You have no right to this information about their decision.

I'm assuming there must be a law on the maximum occupant of a single dwelling?

That would come down to health and safety. I doubt there is a specific number listed anywhere, and it would depend on the sq ft floor space of the unit.

I'd say the figues is at least in double figures.

A 4 bed house could possibly hold 20-30 people before it could be considered any sort of health and safety issue. (4 people per bedroom, and 4-5 in other living space such as living room).

You can check the address on the PRTB - it lists the number of people that are registered to that property. Is your concern that the LL doesn't know?

That will only show the number of bedrooms and the number of beds. That doesn't mean much. You could have one room and one bed (double), but 4 people using the bed (two at a time (two couples), working shifts). :D

So, the information there isn't restrictive, it's just details.

Seven people in a house isn't many at all; there were six in our house at home and we weren't a big family. I've never heard of a maximum occupancy for a private dwelling ("I'd love to have another baby darling but Health & Safety regulations state that.....)
In fact, I'm certain there's no such thing.

All that matters is, does the landlord know about it and is he okay with it. You would need to contact the landlord.
