going in 2 weeks, been 3 times and been fine with mid sized car as we had 2 young children. New baby leaves us with 3 kids ages 5, 4 and 6 months. Ive been trying to book a car that will take 3 seats, short of booking a van, Im struggling. the zafira is the only one I know will take it but I cant be guaranteed that I'll get a zafira or indeed that I'll even get a 7 seat zafira which we'd need with the extra baggage and buggy this year.

We get away with 5 yr old without a booster seat here as she sits in the middle, the belt is low down and is legal here (not my most pressing concern) as the book says the child can sit in the middle if a car seat doesnt fit.

Anyone know the legal story in france? Is there a height and weight restriction for a child that has to be in a booster seat anyone any suggestions for a car?
the price more then doubles if we pick a van.

What I would say about driving in France is to err on the side of caution. It seems sometimes that there's nothing the French cops love more than to pull over a tourist in a hire car (or their own car, for that matter) and throw the book at them.

Check out The AA for info: http://www.aaireland.ie/infodesk/motoring_europe.asp but note that it doesn't mention that every occupant of a car MUST have a hi-viz vest stored in the car (not the boot).
