Here`s how it is. In my area we cant get dsl wireless cable broadband only mobile or sattelite. i became a 3 bill pay broadband customer in may 2008. of course the service was slow and it use to disconect every 5 minutes. it was annoying but i had to live with it. In 2005 minister Noel Dempsey i think sent me a letter after constanly explaining i needed internet access for work. He said he would do his best which was nothing to make sure broadband came to my area. years of dial up off that rip off service called eircom came to an end in 2008 when i joined 3, off course dial up was a similar speed i found but to expensive as im online constanly during the day. May 2008 terrible service june got worst right up until october when the coverage disapeared all together, i was a 3 bill pay phone customer aswell so my 3g on the phone was almost never in coverage. I was told it will be fixed in 24hours for 2 weeks so i stopped paying it because 1. they didnt solve the problem and 2. where charging me, i couldnt even get a complaint number off them for comreg. im with vodafone now, still slow but better speeds and customer care but 5gb limit. what angers me is how eamon ryan gqave this company hundreds of millions to provide a really bad service and have call centres in mumbai in india. does he own shares or is he just been stupid, it could also be a greener solution lol. We need to buy back eircom and stop this s**t of mobile technology. according to the eu every citizen has a fundemental right to internet access, but why do i have to pay more for slow speeds while people in cork/dublin on the dole and scangers get 24mb fast broadband.

Buying back eircom is not, and should not be, an option. The debts would cripple us. eircom should be let go to the wall, then bought up for a fraction of what it would cost us now.

Problems with the NBB and Eamon Ryan? Contact the minister and tell him. Tell him of how bad you found Three, and ask him to justify putting the NBB in their hands. It's also something you should have put to all the local councilors and EU candidates before the recent elections. Even now, you should still do that.

Very few people get 24M broadband, it's not even an option for most of the people on the enabled exchanges. And I don't see what being on the dole, or being a skanger, has to do with it. Leave your prejudices at home if you want any kind of serious answers.
