Recently, all I've been hearing is "brother" this and "brother" that.

Was out last night and a guy asked me for a cigarette and I gave him one and he said "Thanks brother".

What the ****? Where did this come from? Seriously, where?

    It's pathetic.

Don't watch Lost so don't know who you're on about. Could have been him I suppose. Probably wasn't though..

Class! Listen, next thread you reply in, you should type something like "Yore Ma" or something. They'll think it's hilarious. They'll never expect it. Totally far out like! Oh my God!

I'd stay away from Redout's posts so.

Ah it beats horse. Regular in a pub I used to work in called everyone brother. I asked him one night why and he told me he was crap at remembering names so he got around it by calling everyone brother.

Why do you use "like" at the end of sentences?

    "Like" what?

I always say "Excuse me brah"

but I don't say brah at any other time. I don't know why, but I think it's something to do with how cool I am.

Also Broseph is a good one

LOL at this flame! So what if people say brother!! What do you say???

    Mate? Bud? Pal?

    It's the Scots.

Seriously - I thought it was just a stupid thing they had Desmond in Lost say but if you spend any time in Scotland you hear it all the time.

    "Alright brother, how are you?"
    "Fancy another Haggis, brother?"

It sounds right in a Scottish or Jamacian accent, not in an Irish one.

"brother" isnt all that uncommon a term among us nortsoyiders, mostly used by taxi drivers and junkies though

Do you not get it, lads? The Irish are the blacks of Europe. And Dubliners are the blacks of Ireland. And the Northside Dubliners are the blacks of Dublin. So say it once, say it loud: I'm black and I'm proud. Brother.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 5,671 ✭✭✭BraziliaNZ

i don't mind it actually. But in NZ it's ridiculous, even women call blokes "bro", give it a rest! Not all Kiwis like it though.

Its all that dirty hippie guys fault, swanning around in sandals with his "brothers" having ridiculous picnics on the hills and jabbering on about his latest fantasy story...Jebus I believe he is called.

Tried complaining to his ma about anti-social behaviour but she thinks he's god. Wimmin ffs!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

How does a ridiculous picnic differ from a normal one? More clowns?
