I have an idea but I would need to get the go ahead that I think would bring some tourism to an area.

How would I get my plan started?
Would I need to get onto Enterprise Ireland to get this going.

There is a group in the UK that run a franchise and a successful one at that but they have not entertained Ireland yet. would it be better to get in touch with them as they know how to set up and run these businesses, but would they take to much of the profits etc.
Or am I better to go out on my own and have the flexibility to try new things without punishment from the franchise owners.

This is at an early stage but i want to avoid the basic mistakes first off and get good solid ideas from people who have been in this suitation before

Franchise option is only a good idea if the business process is complicated and the brand recognition / customer perception of the brand drives in real profit.

If not, go get a job in their business for 3 months and keep the lions share of the profits. As you said a franchise will cut down on your ability to react fast and make changes.

Talk to your local enterprise boards first, then failte Ireland and the enterprise boards. Best of luck with it, we need more activities for tourists and reasons to coming to Ireland.

il post again when i hear from the enterprise board.

any questions i can help with just ask.

oh and fair f*cks for going out on your own on this one. i have had so many ideas in the past and never did anything about them only to see some person on dragons den doing something similar. this time i said no way.

If it's for tourism, contact Bord Fáilte as well.

I would so love to get back into tourism again. It is so much more worthy as a job compared to debt collecting and you actuelly help people!!! Good luck men. Hope it works out for both of you. (ps if you have a spare job give us a shout!!)

    Yes thanks for that.

We are going to look into the business model and set up adapted in the UK and take it from there. Decide weather or not to go franchise, find out the TnC's anyway..

We have to talk to Board failte. I dont think the Enterprise boards would be helpful as they are more into big job creation and Enterprise Ireland will only deal with companys who export a product

Hopefully something will kick of from here

bringing in foreign tourism is actually exporting a service, as foreign cash would be spent here. So give them a go... best of luck
