Changing account type but keeping number

Hi, I'm a student (aged 18) and have a secondary student account with BOI.
A student account afaik is a current account but not with all the features.

Now I want to change to a fully operational normal current account and want to know is it possible to change account types but be able to keep your own account number so as not to interfere with paypath, etc?

    Cheers :)

My student account with AIB was upgraded to a normal current account without issue.

Shouldn't be a problem - most banks would allow you to keep the same number in this scenario.

I'm sure one of our BOI folks will confirm in due course.

Zero problem here. It's a bookkeeping exercise more than anything else. A/c number doesn't change. However if you are entitled to a student a/c I would go for it as you will get free fees with out the conditions. Lending can be not as strict. A student a/c is fully functioning, as you are now of a legal age and therefore if you want to do lending etc you're entitled to do so. However if they give same, that's another thing.........
