This is one of theose questions that really annoys people I know but I'm training for the Dublin Marathon and want to do three halves before hand. Any idea where I can get a real list.... closer to Dublin the better as I'm travelling to much these days.

runireland.com doesn't let me filter properly. Active Europe doesn't have a list at all.

Longford is one that I have found

Would 28th of June in Dublin be too soon for your first? http://www.irishmultimarathon.com

Interesting. I ran 19km last night and ended in pain but 21.1 feels achievable

The mooathon is on the 27th of Sept as well, you just wouldn't be able to enjoy the wedding. :pac:

Not quite a half but 12.4m (20k). Breffni challenge 1st August.
I have a wedding on the 26th too so will run Longford instead in preparation for the DCM.

Why do you need to do 3 beforehand?
Surely a couple of 10k races and one half marathon would be better. With the ammount of long runs you are doing would you be risking burn out?
Racing takes a hell of a lot more out of the body than training.

Kind of on the same subject....am planning my warm-up races for Berlin (20 September), and there appears to be a distinct lack of 10k-half marathon races (well looking at runireland/BHAA) during August and very early in September.

The only race of "substance" that I can find is the Adidas 10 miler. Longford Half is only 3 weeks before Berlin, so is a bit too close for my liking. Everything else seems to be much shorter distances, which I tend to avoid.

Anyone care to recommend a few races - ideally within striking distance of Dublin?!

Looking for the same thing myself. the Frank Duffy 10m on the 15th August is probably a good one, as you still have the following two weekends for the final long runs before the three week taper (which begins on 30th August).

For anyone doing Dublin the best half marathon in terms of when it's on would be the Half marathon championships in Ballybofey, Donegal - 6th September (and it won't be circa €50 like the Dingle one the following week!). Personally I think the Adidas one is too close to the marathon itself for a flat out half marathon race.

There's a 10k in Firhouse that same weekend. Should be a good sharpener for the Berlin marathon.

My training plan reccomends 2/3 before hand.

For Berlin build-up , I am doing the Achill Half-Marathon 4th July, and I stuggled to find a second one a bit closer, until I noticed
Cookstown Half-Marathon on 24th July on runireland which looks the business (£15 entry, flat and fast like Berlin)

I am also going to do some of the IMRA mid-week trail races as well (replacing an interval run in my program).

There is a Bhaa 10k in Firhouse at the start of sept if its any use.

I'll probably do that for the craic, for the simple reason that the course goes right behind my house :)

My garmin actually records this race as being 13.6m! I don't know why the organisers don't try to adjust the distance and make it a proper half marathon distance. But having said that, it is meant to be first and foremost a fun day out raising money for charity, and from experience it does that alright.

Why are they all so close together. If only they were spread out a bit more we could have marvellous fun running Irish halfs all year.
