    Hi all,

Hope this is ok for this forum, don't want to put it in the adverts section as I'm not actually selling yet just have a query, I'm not really a massive bike person but was curious to find out what people thought I might get if i was selling 1: A medium Giant OCR road bike from about 2006/7 only been used about ten times.. and 2: A large Giant rincon mountain bike from last year, also in great nick.

Hopefully someone can help and hopefully this threads within the rules ?

    Why ?

I need money as I want to visit my mates in Chicago end of August so I'm currently sellin stuff i don't need. I have a CRS zero so have no need for the rincon as i cycle that to college now instead, and i havent used the roadbike in about 2 years. Cheers anyway:rolleyes:

I think he's referring to the chance that you've stolen the bikes, something that crossed my mind too TBH.

Well thats not going to be a problem as the minute someone gets in touch with me about actually buying them they would know straight away they were both got legit,. Anyways if no-one can actually answer my question it doesnt matter, thought someone might actually be helpful nevermind.

I have had three bikes stolen, its a sum total of about 1,000 euro!!!! Everyone is suspicious when someone wants to sell two newish bikes - especially when the word quick is involved!!! It's nothing personal, just lots of bikes stolen and lots of dodgy characters!!!!!

If you have a proof of purchase then there are no problems...

Fair point Pembily. But i can MORE then assure you nobody would be in any fear of these being stolen for reasons I'd rather not get into here, if someone wants to pm about it work away, but its grand I'v texted a worker at Giant and got the figures. So thats it for this thread.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but I was wondering something similar! If I was to sell my mint Trek 1.5 as seen here do any of ye know roughly how much I would get for it? It's a 52cm frame, I got it at the end of last year and has been raced for this season so far. It is actually in a like new condition, and all parts that get worn have been replaced as necessary (there is a new BB on it, a new chain, new brake blocks, fresh white handlebar tapes will be put on etc.)

Also, I am going to look at a used Orbea Orca (51) with last years Dura Ace on it today, and I don't know the asking price. It won't have any wheels on it so I have no idea how much something like this would cost. I did a quick google search and it seems that the frames new are in around the 2k mark and how much would the Dura-Ace groupset be worth? I know it depends on the condition etc, I'm not even sure what finishing kit is on it! All I want it a rough figure so I know what ballpark I'm in when he says the price, and my jaw doesn't drop! Thanks

High end stuff doesn't really hold its value Ballyhoura. I would sell your Trek 1.5 20 times over before I would be able to flog that BH. Big market for a well priced starter bike out there, not so much for the exotic stuff.

I would not pay anything over 1500 for the Orbea (and thats if it had decent finish kit, saddle, stem, bars etc...).
