One of my favourites... after a break of several years, I played it this winter and thought it was great. It's a very dry course too so very playable. The tees were temporary which was the only negative at that time.
Then we drew Carlow in the Barton so I got to play a practice round and a match there. It's a great course off the back markers... some very strong par 4's. The whole place is so natural... the land has a great flow to it. I love the back 9 particularly.

There is a Junior scratch on there on July 5th... 36 holes. Great value if you can make it and are eligible (5-9). Kilkenny is on the same day which is a pity.

Carlow is a beauty. Its natural feel gives it something extra special and, as Fairwaysallday said, it puts some of the big boys to shame.

Johnny Vaughan says it's the best course in the world!

The broadcaster bloke in the UK:

His Breakfast show has 1 million listeners on Capital Radio. Read it and weep, Gerry Ryan.

Have played round it a good 20 times now. Definitely in my top3 favourites in Ireland. Seems to stay in perfect condition all year around. Beautiful natural layout. I'm so disappointed the Junior Scratch is on the same days as ours (Woodbrook), I would be the first to sign up otherwise.

great track the putt from the back to the middle of the fourth green has to be the scarest in golf!

Yes - played it last Friday.

However, even though the flag was at the front of the 4th green I rolled a putt three times which stopped 1-2 inches beside the hole and then rolled all the way back to my feet!

Tbh, it was funny the first time but after that it struck me as being just unfair.

The rest of the course is superb though.:D

Yep, plenty of courses around that will do that to you - in the summer obviously enough

Carlow has always been a superb course and used to be rated the best inland course in Ireland before the likes of Mount Juliet and K Club were established.
