Old SW Methods vs New SW Methods

With all the talk going on about how much things have changed, it occurred to me that there were some procedures I went through over the years that I dont think are in practice any more.

    {1} Unemployment Assistance
This methodology was phased out in 2006 and replaced with Jobseekers Allowance.

It used to be that you signed on, and then filled in a form and put it in some pre-paid envelopes that you got when you went into the office for the first time. You then sent these back every week.

    {2} Jobseekers Benefit
This method of payments replaced the old Unemployment Benefit and it used be, and may still be the case, that you go in every week when your claim is being processed and you sign on, until your claim is finalised.

Does anyone else know of any changes in terminology, format, and procedure that have taken place in the last few years??

Any change in the format of how it works, that you know of, Langer?

I want this to be a thread for people who used to be on the dole and were off it for a good few years, and thought the understood it but now they don't!!

Does anyone know when the old weekly letters they used to make you send in was discontinued??

Is weekly signing {before payment} still in place??

If so, for Benefit or Allowance??
