Hi there, I'm from Tyrone, 19 year old student, me and a few friends are thinkin of a bit of a tour of Ireland this summer. Any reccomendations of places to hit? And ways to keep costs down? Probably take buses around. Most likely go down the middle and up the left. Dublin is just out of hand expensive :P, I've been there recently too. Looking for some classy sights and any places to go out too. Thanks.

around the Burren and the coast in clare is great craic in the local pubs and the scenery is pretty amazing!

All depends what kind of holiday you guys are looking for??!

Well basically, see some cool sights during the day, and go out places at night is the main thrust of the thing :p. Sounds good tho, cheers.

I'm thinking of something similar, I'm 18, wanna do a trip of Ireland in July/August, though we have cars available. From Louth, wanna do some sort of coastal trip...Any ideas?

can't go wrong with galway around that time, the galway races will be on and the craic will be 90,stay in the holiday homes in salthill which are still very central, westport is another great town in mayo for the craic also lahinch and lisdoonvarna in co clare are brilliant for a couple of nite's on the piss!

That's great, may just do that, what are the views like around there? I've already done the northern coast, giants causeway and all that, what's it like there?

I would definitely recommend Galway as a base! The city it's self is very nice, definitely see the Spanish Arch and the Cathedral, then if you can drive out the coast by Salthill and on to Spiddeal, its really beautiful if the weather is nice. If you go the last week of July/ 1st week of August, the atmosphere will be mad with the races. Its really great craic, but it is a bit pricey!!

Don't leave Galway without going down around the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher, its really fab!! and only bout 1.5hrs from Galway. If you can rent a car for two or three days, I would also go to mayo- Westport, Croagh Patrick, Louisburg and Old head beach!

If you get the weather, these are some of the most fantastic and breathtaking sights. Best of luck, Enjoy ;)

How pricey is pricey? We haven't got all that much of a budget, enough for food and accommodation and that's about it :S

Well I guess you can make it as pricey or unpricey as you like! The general thing for the races is to dress up (so for the females this could mean new dress etc).

Admission can be anything from €15-25 depending on what day you go or concessions you may be entitled to. Generally there are 7/8 races so if you do a minimum bet of €2 on each thats €16, then say you have 5-6 alcoholic beverages thats €40, food €15, bus to and from the city €4 and the ensuing night out; 5 more drinks €35, nightclub €10, Supermacs €10 and taxi home €5!
so that would be a total of €150 for your days racing and people would laugh at me suggesting a bet of €2.

Then again thats going the whole hog..but if you are racing its very difficult not to follow on into town for the ensuing night out! Anyway you will be so tired the following day you wont be able to spend any money apart from maybe a breakfast roll!

however the craic is bound to be priceless so I recommend everyone should experience it some time or another!

if you brought a bag of sambos and a 2l bottle of 7up to the Cliffs of Moher you could probably splash out on the day at the races ;)

    Anyway enjoy if you go.
