Apparently,he wanted to have his son by his side at the sideline just before the game ended and he was been given abuse from Munster officials according to him.

Davy is the most balanced man in the GAA - he has a chip on both shoulders. And lately he's ramblings are a bit embarrassing tbh

someone from the Munster council put his arm around his son according to this:

Just read the article carawaystick posted... Davy fitz is angry all the time, i bet im not the only one that has noticed that! As for the article itself, whoever wrote that article seems to know nothing about hurling or at least major players on teams as they called limerick captain mark foley, mark keane??

Hurling is Davy Fitz's life, plain and simple. I'm not slagging him off btw, GAA needs characters like him. However I would question if he has the required temperament to bring All-Ireland success to Waterford.

He's a media whore. Absolutely loves the attention.

Some say it's a Mourinho-type tactic to deflect pressure from the players. That's bs.

    He just loves the attention.

And Waterford will win nothing with him. He doesn't have the tactical cuteness.

I've been lucky enough to attend press briefings of his in the past, and I'll admit I used to love his brutely honest, no-nonsense style of addressing journalists. It was refreshing to hear a manager that admitted we weren't at our best even when we won, like the Wexford and Offaly matches last year. But the stuff he's come out with the last few days has really irked me.

Fair enough Davy, your son wasn't treated brilliantly at the match, but that's not what me or any other Waterford fans want to hear. We want you to tell us how utterly shambolic we were in the first half, we want you to say what you plan on doing about it, and we want you to give us confidence going into Saturday knowing that you're doing everything you can to fix it.

The match day stewards shouldn't be the ones getting criticized, the players are. And mindless ranting like this does nothing but make me wonder does he really have the temperment for the job.

that was my thinking too. The camera picked up Justin shaking hands with another Waterford official but not Davy. Maybe he did it later, he's hardly that petty is he?

A lot of people (incl some on here) seem to have a real dislike for Fitz - yeah he's abrasive, yeah he's not as media savvy as some people, and yeah, he shoots from the hip. Sometimes what comes out is not really thought through. But I struggle to think of anyone (Liam Griffin apart) who cares more about hurling and promoting hurling. A few years ago he played in an AI semi-final, which Clare lost. The following morning, when most of his teammates were in bed or moping around, he was out in Fingallians in Swords, giving a coaching session to kids for free, because he had made a commitment to do it, and he was determined to honour it. The man was one of the top keepers for years, and is a young coach who has had some success but clearly still has a lot to learn.
I also think he said more about the match than is being reported, but his comments about the Munster Council are obviously more newsworthy so they are reported on. For what its worth, I think it was petty and a disgrace that his kid wasn't allowed out on the pitch with him.
