    Hi,

I just signed on today while genuinely looking for a job, after 6 years of employment. at first they told me i had the wrong stamps!!!!!! eventually backed down.

Myu query though is in relation to claiming tax back, i paid 4 months tax this year at 50% and sum1 told me i can claim it back. they acknowledged it down the dole office too. i searched the revenue site but suprise!!! couldnt find anything.

ne1 got any ideas about this and where to start?

    Ty in advance

    Hi
This is the link to the section on the revenue site:
    http://www.revenue.ie/en/personal/tax-refunds.html#section1

The citizens advice website is generally quite good for this sort of info.

The interim refund you can claim will be for the PAYE element only ie not the PRSI and levies

    Hope this helps

Also don't forget to check out if you are due any refunds on doctors bills, dentists, physio, prescribed drugs and education fees over the past four years. Also check out if you are due any money back for bin charges paid. Even if you don't have a service provider look into what can be reclaimed on a tag a bag system. If you have been working for years you are bound to be due something. Call into Citizens advice first. Then away with you and do your figures. Form is Med 1 for medical related refunds. Can't remember the one about bin charges....that may just be a letter.

With MED1 you don't actually send in the receipts but you must have them if requested by revenue.

Sorry you were laid off. Must be tough but keep positive. Were you made redundant.(ie paid statutory redundancy) If so you are entitled to Back to Education allowance at full rate just in case the buggers in SW have you on a lower rate.

Make finding out what you are entitled to a new hobby.

    Best of luck.:)

The amount of tax you can reclaim per month is the lower of the following values:

    (a) The total net tax you paid since January
    (b) The amount of your monthly tax credits

Example: Single person with tax credits of €3660 for the year pays tax of €1800 between January and May; then gets laid off.

This person can get the lower of (a) €1800 and (b) €3660/12=€305.

So, this person cam reclaim €305 for each month until the value of €1800 is reached.
