Bewleys Ballsbridge or Herbert Park hotel for gig in RDS?

    Hi,

I'm attending a gig at the RDS next month with 3 others. We dont intend on going in to Dublin city centre after the gig, just probably straight back to hotel for a few beers.

In terms of walking distance, I believe both Bewleys Ballsbridge and the Herbert park are much the same distance from the venue - is that correct? Neither should be more than a 10 minute walk, is that right?

Which is the nicer hotel in terms of rooms, service etc.?

    thanks!

I have stayed in both many many times.

The Herbert park has nicer rooms but thats where it ends really.

The breakfast is WAY overpriced. €21.50 for a cooked breakfast.

Both charge for parking €7.50 overnight.

BUT, if you are going to have a drink in the hotel then Bewleys is much better. The Herbert park has a mediocre "bar" which was a restaurant in the reception area. They decided to build meeting rooms and removed the original bar from where it was.

    Bewleys will be cheaper also.

Bewleys is quite nice and very handy for the RDS, plus has parking. Not sure if the Herbert has. Can't really remember much about my stay though, was a while ago.

    Many thanks for the info.

Am leaning towards Bewley's alright, especially if it has a bit more of a bar atmosphere (I mean that in the best possible way!) for after the gig.

Is Bewleys within a 10 min walk of RDS? I'm pretty bad on my Dublin geography!

what about the old Jury's Ballsbridge hotel? I think it is called the D4 hotel now or something.

The bar there, the Dubliner, was always pretty good i thought.

D4 group are ok and similar to Bewleys.

If the gig is on in the RDS Simmonscourt then you are basically a 5 minute walk.

If the gig is on in the RDS Mainhall then are you still only a 5 minute walk.

Herbert Park does have parking also in reply to Irish Goat
