    Q for all or you:

Anyone know where this is? Approx 12 KM south of LHR,shows Byfleet near it on google maps. Has roads called 'vickers drive,' 'avro way,' 'sopwith way'. A collection of aircraft can be seen to the top right of the shot and in the zoomed image. That looks like a concorde in older BA livery behind a hanger.

    Brooklands.

The track is used as part of a Mercedes showroom and there's a number of planes in the museum.

    Further info...April 2009

    Concorde simulator opens at Brooklands

One of only two Concorde simulators has been re-commissioned at Brooklands Museum.
Following a five-year restoration project, visitors can get a pilot’s-eye view of a Concorde flight, including take-off and the thrill of breaking the sound-barrier.
The simulator, which first entered service in 1975, as one of two in the world, cost around £3m at 1975 prices – around £20m.
Former British Airways Concorde Captain Mike Bannister was joined by record-breaking driver Richard Noble OBE, for the inaugural flight in the refurbished simulator.
It is housed in a specially refurbished building next to the museum’s Concorde G-BBDG, as part of the Brooklands Concorde Experience.

Yep its Brooklands, about 10 minutes away from me. You've also got(disused) Wisley airfield very close by. Right by the A3 and the M25.If you didn't know about Wisley you'd never guess it's there.

At Brooklands there's still part of the old banked race circuit. I'm a member of Cobham bus museum (about 2 minutes from Brooklands)which is based in a building where Barnes Wallis did the development work for the bouncing bombs. The bus museum has a huge open day in April (about 300 vehicles turn up) and they used to use Brooklands, now they use Wisley airfield.

Mercedes have made a very kind offer to the bus museum to join them on their site. So you'd have the Mercedes museum (Mercedes World), the bus museum and Concorde (amongest other aircraft) all on one site.
