This evening,i was pondering about those lil workstations that so many people enjoy - korg Electribes!

But one thing, just one thing baffles me...

The sheer amount of demo patterns they have!!!
About a year ago, when i bought my EMX i turned it on, (and also ESX when i bought one)
and noticed, that out of the 256 slots for patterns/projects about 3/4 of the 256 were all demos.patterns were broken into techno, trance etc etc etc.The usual dodgy stock patterns, that are pretty cheesy and dodgy.stuff you dont use.

    anyone know why this is?
I just delete them when i want to make a pattern.

Put it this way,if one has spent over 500 Euro on an Electribe, you wouldnt be using these dodgy demo patterns, you would be straight in making your own original patterns since you were after shelling out so much money.

Dont get me wrong,im all on for demo patterns on pieces of gear like roland mc 303's ,and even the akai mpc range has the odd demo track too,but not 3/4 of the pattern library dominated by stock patterns!!!

This was also evident on the Roland MC 303.
If my memory serves, nearly exactly 3/4 of the memory bank is dominated by factory patterns produced by random dudes from europe and japan.

i just dont get it,is it to promote certain artists? becasue in the manual for theses devices it mentions the name of the dude who produced the beat.

    Eg:

    pattern : 180 (Techno)

    composer : hideo takamoto

and so on and so forth.

    Ugh.

    any ideas?? anyone?

    Lukasz,

Why not call the guys at Korg and ask them. I've found most support guys to be only too pleased to discuss this sort of thing.

    Yeah,

I may even email the guys and see what they have to say,its rather trivial really. But im just not digging the amount of demo patterns.

Korg do have a support team in the UK.
    Ill give them a holla.
