Apologies if this has been asked before, but I need an urgent answer.

I'm based in Dublin and have just accidently smashed my US-purchased macbook display :( The screen still displays and everything else appears to work, but many cracks have formed across the screen.

The screen is 13.3" - can anybody tell me the quickest and most cost effective way to repair (replace) the screen? Also any idea of the cost? My macbook is not yet 1 year old

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Eorpach

I ordered a new screen from an ebay store recently and replaced it, took a couple of hours dissasembly and fitting total cost charged to client around €350.00, local apple guys were charging around €570.00. If you need the ebay supplier let me know they were based in NY took about a week to deliver.

350 is about right but there is a company in Ballybrack that will do lower end Mac Laptops from 149 + VAT. Higher end Macs start from 229 + VAT. Where your laptop ranges in that list I'm not sure but it's worth a call anyway ?

Call Jess at Computer City on 2820458 or visit their websites at www.ccity.ie

    Hope this helps :)

Thank you both for the advice - I phoned around and got some hugely varying quotes to replace and fit a new LCD - the highest one was €750!!

In the end I opted for a place on Parkgate St (A1 Technologies/Repairtech) in Dublin 8 who had the exact replacement screen in stock. They had the whole thing done and ready in under 3 hours - at a much more reasonable €190.

Seem to have done a great job - would recommend them!

Thats very reasonable. When they were iBooks, Apple used to charge about €700 AFAIR......
