Alamo Car Hire USA

    Booked car hire with Alamo for the US in September. Just looking on the Alamo site and it says;

    Drivers must produce a full driving licence and have at least 2 years continuous driving experience, free from serious endorsement or disqualification prior to rental.

    In September, I'll have my full license about 18 months, but have been driving for 5 years, so I have 2 year continuous driving, but not sure if that what they mean. Do they want full licence for more that 2 years?

    Just wondering if anyone has rented a car with them with their full license less that 2 years. Holiday hangs on this small detail.

    If your licence is only 18months old then it could be a problem. On my licence when I rented a few months ago, this was not an issue. Even though its a new licence, it shows the length of holding under the B bit. But I did have to point this out to the chap. Do you still have your provisional or some sort of proof that you are driving 24 months? Otherewise have you tried another rental company?? Like Thrifty?

    I was just looking at their site (Alamo) a few minutes ago so I wont be able to talk to the booker until the morning. Provisional was sent in to get my full license at the time, so no joy there. Have to talk to trailfinders in the morning it seems.

    Edit: Seems to be for Ireland only, everywhere else in EU is 12 months full license.

    Sorted. Once you have a valid full license and a credit card in your own name its fine.
