Oh well in that case I dont think you'll have to wait the 3 months.Have you worked before?payed tax?if you have'nt well you can apply for job seekers allowance which is means tested, but if your living with your parents you may not get anything.

i would tell you to go in and sign on anyway, because you live with your parents and have never worked before then you will want to claim jobseekers allowance, but this is means tested and if you live at home your parents income will be taken into account.

The rates for people under 20 were changed so that you only receive 120 euro a week in the April Budget, i dont know how old you are.

But if you are going bring proof of address and id and maybe a birth certificate and proof of your parents income if you have it. you could be waiting for hours to see them so try and get everything you need together and bring it in the one day, its really annoying when they tell you go away get such and such and come back.

You have to wait 3 months after your last exam before you can sign on.

I'm 18. Live with my mother (Parents divorced). Will pop into the offices after my last exam to see what the story is.

    Appreciate the replies guys,

    Thanks.

I finished college and was told the same story about not being able to sign on for 6 months. It's a load of b****x. Go in there tomorrow with a letter from your school stating that you are finished.

Yeah i'll do something like that cheers. Would preffer not to sign on but really have to if it'll take time to get a job. Fingers crossed they don't make me wait 3 months !.
