    Hi,

now that I am getting back into my running more frequently I find myself needing to use the toilet a lot more. It is not a problem but am doing number 2 about 4-6 times a day. Will this frequency reduce again once my body has shed the last of it´s excess weght?

Lay off too much coffee an caffine, also watch out for dairy products, too much fruit same day or the evening before is a killer too..
also important drink pleanty of water, including the day before, you won't get hydrated just before you head out the door..

Not sure whether it has anything to do with excess weight.I'd say maybe it's more about your body getting used to the new routine. I wouldn't give up coffee completely. It's the one legal performance enhancing drug :D

some good advices there, don't make dramatical changes over night, especially the caffeine.

Also if you train more I suppose you drink more so loose more fluids. When you train the "fluid exchange is greater too" and I am not sure but I also heard some of my athletes telling me that they never empty their bladder fully, when they do, they feel they need to go more often.

Not sure about last comment but would be nice to have a dietitian or nutritionist input, this is a very interesting question.

    Any body out there ?

Have you made any changes to your diet? you may be getting more fiber into you and so need to go more.

+1 on the coffee. for me a cup or two is fine but if i have too much within a small time frame i **** for ireland!

I found that when I started exercising as well... Your metabolism speeds up with the exercise that you're doing and so you're probably digesting the food quicker and therefore having to go more regularly. I also found that with the amount of water I've started drinking...that's also started to help me with going number 2 alot more regularly as well. I didn't drink half as much water as I should have been until I started running.

I absolutely love coffee and would drink 2 -3 standard cups a day usually. The problem I sometimes have is that I seem to have a certain trigger point where if I take on too much caffeine I go in unination overdrive and shed a hell of a lot of fluids very quickly. My standard dosage is cool and has no bad effects but once I pass my 'tipping point' I'm in big trouble.

Seb will know this well as he travelled as my coach to the World Cup 100k last year in Italy. I drank a few cups of very strong hotel Italian Coffee at lunchtime the day before the race, just before we went to the athlete's briefing in a nearby town (Tarquinia). All afternoon I had to p1$$ about once every 40 mins or so and honestly I could have filled a barrel (sorry). I remember telling Seb what was going on as he was wondering why I kept dissapearing to the toilets and all he did was mutter something about 'not a good sign'. Predictably, I bombed the next day.

When you have too much time on your hands, especially during a taper or when in a strange place, lay off the coffee.
