hi there why do you drink? what else do you have going on in your life. i suggest giving up cold turkey and instead going to the boot camps that are running in parks in dublin. better than the gym because you meet people and its social, which replaces the social aspect of the pub you would be missing. getting fit and healthy again is the anser. this is the road to nowhere for you. the other night i was out in the pub, and the resident drunk was there. his friends have long since stopped going out every night, and he is left making friends with strangers. he is about 50. do you want to look back at 50 and see no achievements other than an empty bank balance and liver disease.

That's problem #1; the word "alco" is thrown around as a pathetic macho joke, and it shouldn't be.

One or two mightn't be too bad, but I suspect it's more than that ?

"Troubling us with this s**t" wouldn only apply if you were wasting our time; the fact that you've realised that you need help is a good start, and considering that this is "Personal Issues", where we've all looked for help and support of one form or another at some stage, means that you'll get some help here without being judged.

Whether you'll need more professional help is another thing, but well done on taking the first step in recognising the problem.

Best of luck, and feel free to "trouble us" some more "with this ****", if you feel the need.....

    Its one of those things.

Its very convenient to use drink as an excuse for your personal behaviour if you are getting into trouble.

The acid test is can you change your behaviour.

The HSE have locally based services which might help and at least educate you on what your problem is and what your options are.
