Nice hotel in Belfast

I'm surprising my husband with a weekend in Belfast combined with concert tickets at the Odyssey Arena. We'll probably take a flight from Cork so I'm looking for a nice hotel in central Belfast. It would be a bonus if there was a nice restaurant in the hotel or nearby. All and any suggestions gratefully accepted.

I've stayed in the Radisson Belfast and Duke's at Queens in Belfast. Highly recommend both of them but especially Duke's at Queens. Was renovated a few months ago, rooms are beautifully decorated with a massive bed and large flat screen tv on wall opp bed. Nicest bathroom i've ever been in, lovely bath and a huge shower. Quite a romantic spot. It's great value as well, think I paid £90 for one night B&B. Is located near the university about a 5 minute taxi ride to most city centre restaurants and bars.

You could also try the Malmaison Hotel. It's quirky and different, in a way that not everybody on TripAdvisor liked, but I'd happily go there again.

Unless you have an aversion to driving.

Cork(City) is only 3 - 3 1/2 hours from Belfast. You will spend longer getting to Cork Airport, hanging around, flying and bus'ing your way to Belfast City.

    Just an observation.

It is if you are in a F1 car.

3 1/2 hours Berty? Come again, it's 1hr 15mins from Drogheda alone. More like 5hrs + and that's not even taking into consideration the backflow you could possibly meet entering Newry.

Sorry 4 hours so. I drive from Limerick to Dundalk every week. It takes me 2hrs 45 minutes.

And there are more motorways from Cork to Belfast than there are from Limerick to Belfast.

5+hours if you drive under the speed limit but the speed limit is mostly 120kmh.

2hrs45m to Dundalk from Limerick is correct but from Cork to Dublin is approx the same amount of time. It's then almost 2 hours from Dub on to Belfast and once again that's without taking into consideration the back log into Newry. All in all its approx 5 hours and if you are travelling right on the weekend the traffic into Newry will add a further hour onto your journey.

Thanks for all the suggestions I'll check them all out. The flight is way handier for us as we need to be back for work on Monday morning and don't fancy getting up at the crack of dawn! We only live 20 minutes from the airport so it's not that bad. The last time we drove to Belfast (June '08) it took over 6 hours, we headed for Dublin then took the motorway North.

Jury's Inn recommended above - is grand, clean, but pretty basic. It certainly is as close to the city centre as you'll get. Mind you, across the road is the Fitzwilliam, looks SO much nicer! You'll get a bit more luxury there and still city centre!

Thanks to work I've spent a fair amount of time in Belfast's hotels.
Malmaison or Radisson get my vote.

Park Inn has recently opened and is getting great reviews, friends stayed there and thought it was excellent for the price. Deane's Deli is across the road - one of my favourite restaurants.

Anyone know what Hotel Benedict is like? According to Trip Advisor it's the second best hotel in Belfast (Tara Lodge was the highest rated but it looked a bit old-fashioned for my liking, also it doesn't have a restaurant.)

I'm staying there next week so will get back to you then with my own review, OP!
