I'm stopping over in russia for 3 or 4 days in July. I'm wondering how expensive things are over there and how much money (in russian currency) I would need to bring. I'm going on a boat so food and accom are dealt with, its mainly just nights out and general spending I'm wondering about.

Would €120 in russian currency do??

It depends where you are staying.

I've been to Moscow and it was fairly expensive alright. You can't get Russian Rubles here anyway, you will need to bring Euro and change it in a bank when you get there. Try to only change fairly small amounts of money at a time as the exchange rate changes a fair bit.

Im Sorry Alan to mention this but you would be surprised the amount of people who do not know this.

You require a VISA for travel into Russia. Just in case you did not know.

I don't know if things have changed but you used not be able to change Russian currency back into foreign currency. Only change small amounts or you could be left with a lot of expensive pieces of coloured paper.

You can change it back now, but only while still in Russia.
