    Hi guys,

I have an interview next Wed and I've been preparing questions.
For the question 'Tell me a bit about yourself' Should I talk about my hobbies/my education/ my teaching experience or all 3?

Any suggestions or previous experience with this question would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

ask them! 'would you like me to talk about my education or work experience?'
they shouldnt really have to say 'tell us about yourself'. they should have read your cv and know something already. any interview ive been to asks me direct questions in relation to my cv. 'tell us about yourself' seems a bit lazy.

I dont think so, its a very clever question that can tell alot about the person who answers it. Its the only free time that you get to direct the course of the interview. HAve you ever left wishing you had a chance to say something in particular, well this is that chance. I usually use it to explain why I got into this job, the highlights of my career to date, why I am applying for this job, what I can bring to the position and my future plans.

Many people fall into the trap of saying "well my name is AMry and I live in Dublin with my husband and two children"

They know your name, they know where you live, so dont waste this time telling them. Also, thery are not allowed ask about family circumstances so dont give them this info yourself if it could affects your suitability for the job. Thats often why they ask this question, to see if you give them info that they are not allowed ask.

    Best of luck with it.
