Walking in the Alps

Every year when we hit the slopes we say we should come back again in the Summer and do some of the mountain walks. This year, we're actually thinking of doing it. The problem is I don't have a clue which travel agents do 'Alps' summer holidays. I know that Austrian fly to Innsbruck, Lufthansa & Aer Lingus fly to Munich & Swiss & Aer Lingus fly to Zurich (or is it Geneva ?), but other than that I'm out of ideas.

Does anyone know of travel agents or tour operators who do packages out of Ireland ? We would be bringing the mini-zags aged 7 & 9, so something family based would be best.

    Thanks,

    z

We used to travel with Crystal holidays who do excellent packages. Now we fly independently to Munich, pick up a car and drive to st. Johann in the Tyrol.
Topflight also do packages from dublin but Always found that Crystal ahd a better range of hotels.

Ryanair and Aer Lingus might fly to Salzburg too (they do in the winter but the schedule changes in the summer - not sure what it is) - check their websites.

You could book accomodation yourselves very easily and www.oebb.at will give you bus and train info, or rent a car if you want to.

Ryanair had a good flight to Salzburg last year but it has disappeared from their Summer schedule. Munich seems to be the only direct flight from Dublin which is relatively close to the Tirol.
Ryanair have a flight to Memmingen which is West of Munich.
We are flying out on that route in July as we go first to Oberstaufen, ...near lake Constance.... then we drive to St Johann. We return via Munich on Aer Lingus.
Austria is just as fabulous in the summer as in the winter. Great outdoor swimming pools which the kids will love and of course the ski lifts now take you up to glorious green eadows full of Summer flowers.
For a first Summer trip might be easier to fly with Crystal but you will save money be going it alone.
