Borough league is what i would play for, because it's near impossible to get into the Dublin team. good idea to have another team goin for county games

The dublin team is a hard thing to get into especially for borough players there have been a few over the years but were always seen as the outcasts for some reason and the tues rule has to be done away wit to if you play tues you cant play for dublin is the most rediculous rule ever made if your good enough you should be allowed play i would love to see a dun laoghaire team it would take a good county side to beat them

a borough selection played the dublin county team a few years ago twice and beat them twice, farely handy i think? one of the games was in cuala.

i played in one in croke park a few years ago someone should look into it again to see if a borough league team would get in to county darts im sure they want more darts players more teams more excitment in darts

someone should bring it up at the AGM.get the committee to look into it.i'm sure if they thought there was alot of interest in it they'd seriously look at it.it might be an idea to sound out the lads that are already playing county darts to see if they'd make the switch.

I'd definitely be playin for the borough over the current Dublin team if i'm honest. Last year i was on the Dublin team and went to the Leinster Inter Counties won my first match 2-1 with decent darts not great but better than a couple of others but didnt get another game all day:mad: Went down to the All Irelands and honestly i played rubbish but was like an outsider and tbh wouldn't do it again. There was only 1 borough player on the team this year whereas last year we had 3 I was this year asked but refused for the above reason and I wasn't playin well

Like i said earlier borough players have always been treated as outsiders when playing for dublin you go there they dont even talk to you its a big click where as a borough league team you would be playing wit players you know players who are friends players you respect and respect you

plus if there was a borough league team you would know the lads, feel settled, which would improve your darts because there would be less pressure

Exactly mate this should be put in a strong manner to whoever it is we need to approach we should get a poll of current borough league players to see how many would be in favour im sure most would and get rid of that tues rule to you could have borough league qualifiers every 2 weeks or so points for winners runners up and so on singles winner automatically qualifies we could have the qualifiers sun afternoons throughout the summer what do other people think of this idea

Surely you can only have one team representing a County in the All-Ireland Championships.:confused: Or is it different here?

In UK you play for a team in the county super league and the county team is picked solely on players averages.

sure you wouldnt have a clue of players averages in our league sure half the lads wouldnt even get the results of matches what im trying to say is there are a couple of leagues in dublin our league the dun laoghaire borough league is very much over looked when it comes to picking county players yet the players in the league are some of the best in the country never mind the county dun laoghaire is the biggest borough in dublin in hurling you now have fingal county team which is another borough in dublin the gaa live in the dark ages but they can still allow it so why cant darts do the same

it was talked about when i was on the committee, dun laoghaire are entitled to field a county team but have never pushed it,i think at the time some of the better players were on the dublin/wicklow teams and we thought they mightn't leave them to play for the borough.i think theres some rule that says if you switch counties you can't go back for 5 years or something along those lines.i'd imagine as well the dublin powers would oppose the borough fielding a county team.another thing would be the expence of fielding a county team, how would you get around that?

I know but all these things need to be looked at and why 5 years before you can switch to another county seems a bit long to me and im sure you could get sponsership somewhere and if were intitled to field a team well then dublin powers cant do much about it up to players who they want to play for

the 5 year thing was something someone mentioned at the time, how true it is i honestly don't know.at the time i never followed it up.as you say if there're entitled to play as a county nothing could stop them from doing so.sponsorship could be looked into.

Devils adovacte here, but you see very few boro players at the big opens where you get the sort of notice you need to get picked. I see loads of players from the North City and South County but only ever a handful from the boro. not saying theres none going, I know a few lads off here that go to them.

What I am saying is that is very difficult to get picked on league form alone, you need to show form in singles comps too.

Thats what were saying why players dont play in these opens as well is because were treated like outsiders not nice to go play an open and no one talks to you i would play them all if i could if more lads from the borough went you wouldnt need to be noticed if there was a borough team because we all know each other we all know who is capable of been on the team who would you play for

i can see where you're coming from,as you say if more players from the boro went to the opens and won a few they'd open eyes to the talent thats in the boro.

Was talkin to a good few lads last night at the john part expo in the tassie and alot of them are up for this to go ahead so i guess now we have to see how we'd go about doing it if any of the lads here have played county how many players and what the main set up

i think that would be a good idea to get a league team going as it would give the lads more to play 4 maybe have a open once a month and pay 10 euro a man entry fee and it would help the league team going wat you,s think

Good idea mate even every fortnight would be good to have opens in the borough only open to borough league players doe and points for were you finish
    10 winner
    6 runner up
    4 beaten semi finalists
    2 beaten quarter finalists and
1 for entering each event so the more you enter the better chance of getting on the team you must play to be considered no walking onto the team like other counties im sure most lads would be into it rather than have to travel to play darts at the weekend we could sort out prize money try get a major sponser for each round what you think

yeah need to get the ball rolling soon doe get a few heads together to come up wit some ideas and venues no opens in the borough at all for years im sure if a pub or hotel thought they would get 100 lads in on a sat or sun they would look after you we need to just run it as opens first not as qualifiers for the borough league team just in case it didnt happen get someone to get posters done put them in pubs around the borough i know the season is over and not all lads will be out playing darts but word of mouth might work to

If we were aloud have a team why is it only coming out now this would have been great for the league it would have kept the standard up its a great idea but its a big jump to county darts hom many players in the league have the game for county darts in my eyes 20 to 25 players at a push and thats only cause the standard is lower than the dublin league sorry but i think most would agree but i would still love to see it happen
