I am planning on heading over this August. I have read a lot of these threads and am pretty apprehensive about not getting a job but figure Im willing to work at pretty much anything so I should be ok.

Do you guys reckon 100euro? Or about 170aus dollars a week would be enough to live on? Or what should I be aiming for?

I will be bringing about 5k dollars with me. Be getting 400 a month from various other sources and thats before I do any work?

    What say ye?

Eh, no. My hostel rent is 150 dollars per week for a start.

I earn about 660 after tax per week, and technically Oz is a VERY cheap country for socialising and eating. If I had sense I could easily be saving 200 dollars per week, but its nothing but drinking over here so Ive barely saved a cent. about 600 per week is essential to be having the craic the whole time. Alot cheaper than back home, bit the weather etc you drink way more over here.

    Sound man.

I fully intend to work. Whats the average wage like? I mean for bar work, waiters, the usual WHV stuff?

I plan on getting shared accom with a good few mates too so that should bring the rent down, whats would be the average rent for a decent 3bed place or so?

    Appreciate the help

3 months of rural work (usually Fruitpicking) to get second year of WHV.

Any trade job and you should pull in over $30 ph... anything else $20-$25

    All above is before TAX
