It looks like it was a semi-homebrew game that seems to have a few carts created every so often by ScatoLOGIC.
    Semi interesting read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BattleSphere

    You're new here aren't you.

I can tell you now that the majority of replies to this thread will have actually nothing to do with the Atari Jaguar (The Console itself)

That console flopped so hard, I remember Finns here in Waterford were selling them off for 30 punts. Anyone who bought one regretted it hard.

So, I vote Atari Jaguar to answer your question.

AvP on the Jag is awful, bought a Jag a couple of years ago, got the big two games for it, or as the detractors would say, the only 2, AvP and Tempest 2000 and, lads, Alien Vs Predator is truely awful, the Snes version of Doom is a far far better game than this pile of muck, wish I never insulted my eyes with that load of constipated frog dung.

Is Tempest 2000 as good as everyone say's or has it aged badly? Never really wanted to get a Jag but always wanted to play Tempest 2000 .

I'd disagree completely. The gameplay is really pure and simple, the soundtrack is excellent as are the visuals. I'd go so far as to say it's a game that will never age.

Tempest 2000 is one of the best pure shooters ever made, the visuals are timeless, the stuff Jeff Minter coaxed out of the Jag is pure genius, there's just something so, analogue, about the llok and feel of the game, while everyone else was chasing their tails with polygon counts, bitmaps and shaders he was bleeding, dragging and generally making our eyeballs sweat!
For a cheaper option buy the PSone version Tempest X, not quite the same, a tad more "digital" but closer to the Jag game than, well, not owning it at all.

I also have the proper sequel to Tempest 2000, oddly enough called Tempest 3000, on the Nuon, a very rare beast indeed, cost me over 200 euro to buy one from the states, and even then I had to buy a donor DVD player from GB to fix it! Only one game worth playing on it too, out of about 6 on it in total! And, it's Tempest 3000!
Jeff Minter used to have a way of picking doomed formats to work his magic on!

Tempest 2000 is by far the best jag game. Almost tempted to fire up Project Tempest or Virtual Jaguar....ALMOST.

Don't do it, just buy one, go on, you know you want to!
Seriously, the visuals just don't have the same impact on the monitor, not on a LCD either, something about the nature of the CRT that just suits this one.
Not so, the Nuon Tempest 3000, I played that first on my brothers 42" Plasma up close and it was like going into warpdrive all the time, felt like your eyes were being pulled into the screen!
Brought it home and hooked it into my own 37" LCD, just not the same, the contrast ratio really knocked the graphics hard, and I've got a decent LCD too!
Just the Plasma is so much better at doing brights and darks together on screen at the same time.
It'll just have to wait for one the new LED lit LCD sets or better yet the OLED tvs to come stream at a price I can afford, then we'll have some Tempest 3000 bliss, oh yes!
