I am so angry but amused at the same time.....
Parked on O’Connell Street, bought a book of parking discs in the local shop, displayed a disc and went about my business. Returned to find a parking fine for €40 for ‘alleged offence – no disc displayed’ my disc had slipped on the dash so the date was not visible.
Called to complain, was advised to appeal, I did and included the receipt for book of tickets. I got a very quick response to say that I had to pay and called again to complain.
Was advised, in so many words, that it was his word against mine “they had to go with what he had stated on the ticket” procedure was to decline the first appeal as normally if someone is trying to pull a fast one they will pay after the appeal is declined.
I went off on one......why have an appeals system in the first place??? I am not paying the fine....

Sounds like your fault for not making sure your disc would be displayed clearly.

Angle grinder on a parking ticket is a bit extreme.

Angle grinder on a Traffic Warden. Now there's an idea!!!

Yes because Limerick City is noted for its very rural culture, and vast areas of bog

That’s a much nicer description of Limerick, thanks! :D

Glad to see that we have moved away from the negative labels.

I was hoping for something a little less specific, a culchie & boggers forum where we could all just have an auld chat about cows, bales, diesel engines, that kinda thing.

The one you've been reading the last twenty years? In the tractor, you put it down when you were driving down the small country road at 5kph laughing maniacally at the queue of cars behind you. This was just before you spent the night with your favourite partner, the black one with the wool on old Seamus's farm.

Wasn't he involved in a messy divorce after this blatant adultery on his own land?

Surely the "not displaying a parking-disc clearly and then complaining about it when you're fined" is the Typically Irish part of your story?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,659 ✭✭✭CrazyRabbit

Pity us poor bikers. Pay and display is a bit more difficult when you don't even have a dash to display it on! A small gust of wind, or a thieving git, and suddenly you're parked illegally.

You might actually win, it would be your word against mine.....did I have a valid ticket displayed?....:p

    Maybe.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone working in the city council, if I did I would'nt have even had to complain.

Unfortunately "Its not what you know but who you know that gets you places"
