Japan, Interesting... Had been thinking aboout there strangely enough. Why so?

Initially wanted to go on TEFL course there for a year but in two minds...

Any idea where to get cheapest flights there? Tokyo worth the longest time?

    On 2 grand?

2 grand isn't enough for 6 weeks anywhere. Thailand is about your best option.

€2000 is not alot of money. On a serious note you'd get a fair amount of InterRailing and hostelling for that. Or probably to the States and back.

I spent 2 weeks in Tokyo. Next time I want to check out Kyoto, and some of the rest of the country.

u can stay in a nice hostel in manhattan for 18euro a night. food, drink and everything else there is half of what it costs here. u can get cheap buses around america. stay in motels or hostels in more popular cities. meet some students and stay with them. make friends with a hobo and travel with him to mississippi by train. fly into miami. party, then go to the airport and book a flight to cuba(7small airlines fly there from miami). stay there for 10days, 20euro a nite for your own ensuite room. fly back to miami and head to texas. eat a big steak and visit jr ewing's gaff. then on to oklahoma. then on to the grand canyon and make your way over to california. san diego 1st. chill there in a hostel. spend time at the beaches. then head down to TJ to see some drug feuds, grenades and submachine guns are just the thing to get the adrenaline going. u wont even need to buy drugs. buy some tequila and then get the amtrak to san fran. chill there for a week or 2.

You cant really go to far out of Europe with that money coz of flights would just take to large a chunk out of it, so inter railing for me

2k? that wouldn't even cover me living here for 6 weeks, i can't image you travelling on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,629 ✭✭✭Adiboo

Iran is also a very cheap destination. Flights cost about 600-800, and after that you can survive for a month on €500. You'd come home with money to spare.

And don't be put off by the people to will say it's dangerous. Iran is one of the most friendly countries on the planet.

Actually I always wanted to go to Iran myself but I'm just wondering would I get in?? See I went to Israel 2 years ago and obviously I have my passport stamped twice. Doesn't alot of Muslim countires ban people with Israel stamps in their passport??:confused::confused:

You wouldn't be allowed in with an Israeli stamp in your passport. I think Syria is another country that turns away people with Israeli stamps.

Could I apply for a second passport given the circumstances??

I visited Israel a few years ago and they didn't stamp our passport for that reason, supposedly it's hard to get into even egypt with an isreali stamp on your passport, I thought they offered all tourists this option, but not sure, so you know for again to ask for no stamp!! I'd say you could get a new passport no problem as it's a pretty valid excuse, only thing is you'd prob have to pay for it!!

Would love to visit Iran, have a half-Iranian friend, so she's promised to bring me some day!!

Back on topic, I'd give interrailing a shot, or see if you can get super cheap tickets to S.E. Asia, maybe try UK websites since sterling is still relatively good when using euros, I got flights for €120 euro cheaper than air lingus etc for new york by booking on travelsupermarket.com and paying in sterling. Enjoy your trip!!
