does anybody know of an Irish stockist for the Dahon Range of folding bikes?
These are very popular in the USA and UK, they are widely available on the internet but I cannot find an Irish source

    see http://www.dahon.com

Chain Reaction would be the best bet but they've trimmed back their range big time. There is no Irish distributor/stockist of them.

without sounding like a parrot.Halfords are the only Irish stockist/dealer of dahon bikes.

I've never seen them in stock in an Irish Halfords - the only folding bikes I've seen there are Apollo and Raleigh. And the fact that they only list the Speed D7 on the UK website doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

They do stock one or two, nothing too spectacular mind you. But If they are dealers Id imagine they can order in any of the range*

*Asking to order in odd bikes in some halfords stores might be met with
    >

Anytime im stuck I use coolock, usually* spot on.

    * sometimes they can be a pain in the hole.

Wiggle appear to have a much wider range but in general I would suspect that t'internet is your best bet for Dahon (which are great incidentally - I highly recommend them).

Thanks for the tips..I did try my local Halfords in Tallaght, but I will try again, perhaps I can entice one of the staff to make eye contact with a paying customer

    Hi
Can anyone recommend a folding bike suitable for country rides? I want to use it for long cycles but it needs to be strong, easily foldable, and as light as humanly possible! I can't seem to get all these qualities in one.
Dahon has been put forward but I cannot decide. I'd love to hear others opinions,
    Thanks in Advance

I bought a new 7 speed Dahon Jack on E-Bay from a London retailer, could not get an Irish supplier(see my post of 2009 above) I think the current model is 12-speed

I can recommend the Dahon if you are looking for a folder, the Jack is a normal street bike with 26 inch wheels and chunky tyres, comfortable to ride, it folds down small enough to store in a cupboard but would not fit in a small car boot and although it has an alloy frame it is not really light enough to carry, if you want a truly portable folder you would have to go for something like a Brompton small wheeler; its a compromise between ride comfort and portability I'm afraid

They have Dahons in the swords branch of eurocycles too.

A Brompton with titanium rear triangle and fork is relatively light, and folds very small and very quickly, as do all Bromptons. Pricey enough, and there's a waiting list for all Bromptons of at least two months, last time I checked.

I've only ever done 40km in a day on a Brompton (all-steel, rather than the lighter part-titanium version), but it was no bother at all, and I was pulling a trailer all that day too.

The Airnimal range are reputed to approximate well to a normal road-bike feel, but they don't fold that quickly. You have to take the front wheel off, for a start. If you're not frequently boarding public transport or stowing it in a trunk, the longer fold apparently isn't too much of a drag. Worth looking at the range, as they've a few different models with different emphases.

How about this @8.9 KGS: The ORI SURPAZ CR1.0 link

Ori are based in Taiwan and appear to have licenced the designs from Mezzo - a UK based organisation. I don't know of any distributers for Ori in this side of the world but the Mezzo versions of these bikes are available in Ireland and top out with the D10 model. Irish distrbutors include Cycleways and Cycle Surgery; BikeRadar review of the D10 here.
