I've been on the search for a street bike that can take a little abuse from an ex BMX'er :p Any recommendations?

Has anyone used, or seen for sale in Ireland, the Puma Biomega? It promotes complete bike lust in me. http://um.puma.com/

A glow in the dark bike - thieves will be lusting after it too!! Best buy a serious lock too. Just tooled around with the puma online store and you might be able to buy the bike (in a different colour) there @ €1099 with free shipping HERE

PRICY - you could get something nice with a much better spec on the MTB or road side of things with that much money

For €1100 I'd rather have this or this or this.

    True - or THIS.

In fair ness the puma is an unusual bike, but not €1100 unusual

An excellent choice if your street runs through the Black Forest*.

OOTH, I fear my choices are the feeble final straw-graspings of someone at an age which someone comfortable with the usage of the word "street" in senses other than "right up my street" or "Great Georges Street South" would consider "fecking ancient".

I'm riding a GT Zrx since autumn 2001 and am still happy with it - although I'd prefer a different colour than yellow ;). Seems to me a good compromise between fast and sturdy. It has to take a bit abuse regularly, so far it survived everything.

Where I'm cycling now (incidentally I returned to the place where I bought it) road conditions often aren't the best. Dirt roads outweigh tarmac by far, although the tarmac is smoother than in Ireland - if it isn't sprung up and crisscrossed with rifts and holes. When I lived in Ireland I found the slightly broader tyres also an advantage when getting out into the Wicklows. Chased the GT also (carefully!) through the woods a few times and it didn't really complain.

I'm not sure though if they are still available, I doubt it a bit after such a relatively long time.

Edit: just learned that GT produced the ZRX only for two years, 2000-2001...
