Temporary Crowns

I've had a temporary crown fitted while I'm waiting for the real one, to fix a cracked tooth, but it's still painful when I bite on it. Just wondering, is this something that would be fixed by the porcelain crown, or should I alert my dentist?

I don't think there's any real improvement with the temporary crown, I still can't chew on that side, but if it's something that will go away with a permanent crown then I'll wait it out for two weeks.

Any advice is much appreciated, don't wanna sound paranoid :(

I remember this story from an earlier thread. You had better alert him. It might be ok or it might not be. The fact that there is no improvement is disheartening. You may need endo. On the other hand it's possible that the temp simply needs a minor adjustment. But see the dentist right away in case he wants to hold off on the manufacture of the crown.

yeah pop back to your dentist asap, adjusting it early could help a lot if it's high in the bite. Leaving it may lead to the inflammation becoming irreversible and needing root canal.

Well ever since the problems started, about 4-5 weeks ago, I've been chewing on the other side, so I'll just avoid biting on that tooth till Monday.

I just wasn't sure if a temporary crown was supposed to fix it, or would I have to wait for the real one. Now I'm thinking that the tooth might be too badly damaged and that the crown won't really solve the problem.

He did say when he was prepping the tooth that he could still see one tiny crack at the back of the tooth but that he didn't think it was going below the gum line.
