went onto the Aer Lingus website trying to book flights from SNN to IAD/ ORD for 23 November...both of these flights were directed thorough DUB....

I believe it is yet to be officially announced but this is what the media are expecting.

It is a worry as what airlines will still be flying come October 25th. The big guns are really struggling.

Media are saying it is confirmed the SNN ORD will not operate this winter. SNN JFK remains under review. There will be no DUB SFO or IAD services. Aer Lingus say they must cut 25% or their longhaul services this winter.

An ex shop steward was interviewed and said Aer Lingus must keep SNN JFK under review. Cut this service and there will no longer be a need for a cabin crew or maintenance base in SNN. Job cuts!
Yes! The media may be exaggerating slightly, I do not know.

Look Barrington was on the news and said that commercial reasons preclude EI from operating these routes in the winter.

They do not make money, so sorry, they have to go.

The day of operating unprofitable routes is long gone.

Deleted by Moderator. Read the charter - specifically where it says 'no airline bashing'

i would be getting worried about the future of Servisair at SNN, since both ryanair and Delta, 2 of their biggest customers cutting routes...

Michael O' Leary's prediction looks as if it is about to come true

There will be "tumbleweed rolling down the runways at Shannon"

The Government should listen to him and abolish the E10 tax on tourism.:pac:

It can be very quiet right there now. I flew in recently one Sunday evening. One aircraft took off as I landed and the only other sign of life was a Ryanair in between flights. Once the military charters taper off, Shannon could have serious problems even without this governments pathetic own goal of the €10 passenger tax.
