Okay, this is not serious enough to be a Personal Issue but I can't go unreg in After Hours. Just realised I did something ferociously mortifying....I was seeing this Colombian guy for a while but he went home to Colombia a few months ago. We've still been in touch and the emails have been getting more and more saucy. I sent him a photo of me topless a few weeks ago and he wrote me a very racy email in return, telling me what he'd like to do to me, what he did to himself when he saw the photo of me topless and that he'd like some other photos of me doing other things in return for photos of him and he went into very graphic detail of what he would like to see and it was pretty x-rated to say the least.

The problem is, he sent the letter as a document attached to an email and I opened it at work, not knowing it would be so saucy because it was only entitled "Hello". I had to save it to the Desktop before I could open it but the problem is, I've been temporarily using another colleagues computer while she was off and this is a middle-aged, sensible, motherly type woman who I know would be shocked/disgusted by the letter. I stupidly only deleted the icon from the desktop and from the recycling bin but I discovered this morning that it was still in the "recent documents" folder...I completely forgot to delete it. ARGH!

She's off on holiday for a week or so now but before she left, she was acting a bit funny with me (might have just been in my head) and now I've no idea if she read it or not but if she did, I couldn't look her in face again. She back in a week or so but the fact that I've no idea if she read it or not is making me cringe beyond belief.

Not sure what advice I need but just need to vent this. How would everyone else feel about this? I get along with this woman normally...she's a lovely woman but I would hate for her to see me in THAT way.

    Oh god....*cringe*!!!

From a technical POV, you're safe. The contents of "Recent Items" is just a pointer to the original item. If you've deleted the original item, then clicking on it in "Recent Items" will show a "cannot locate file" message.

You're safe, but you're also paranoid. Assuming that you did delete the item from the recycle bin, she can't possibly have seen it.

I'm not much of a techy and really should watch my tracks if I'm partaking in this type of thing. If I only deleted the icon from desktop and the deleted it from the recycling bin, she couldn't open the document in recent folders? I didn't try to open it myself this morning because I panicked and deleted it immediately so I've no idea if the "can not locate file" message would come up.

    I feel a bit more calm...thanks!

Definitely. That's assuming you deleted it after you read it, and not just this morning :)

    Seamus,

You're a star! Thanks for setting my mind at ease, I wouldn't have enjoyed my weekend with all the cringing. Yep, read the letter last week (saucy!)...thanks again. You can lock this thread up if you like!
