Try connecting it to a monitor - this will help determine whether it's an LCD issue, or something worse...

Disconnect all external usb cables , remove battery and see will it boot up with only the power cable plugged in .

From previous experience of that model and the symptoms you describe your graphics card is fecked. That model has a seprate graphics. Hopefully you covered under warranty. Ring acer to find out. Acer will not supply replacements unless it's in warranty.

I've installed a graphics card from another machine into that particular model and hey presto. Machine started no problems.

Could be wrong but that is what it looks like to me.

i think its more than a graphics card issue.
Its plugged in and I press the power button and it Starts up(hearing fan) for literally 1 second and gives up straight away.

    This is a big problem:confused:

Some acer laptops suffer from bios problems. They can be fixed by flashing with the latest bios. Google it you will find lots of helpful sites that give you an idiots guide on how to do this.
