Woman Killed Days After Avoiding Air Tragedy

An Italian woman has been killed in a car crash only days after she narrowly avoided being a victim of the Air France plane crash.

Johanna Ganthaler and her husband Kurt were on holiday in Brazil and were supposed to take Air France flight 447 back to Paris.

But they missed the doomed flight and decided to take a different flight home to Europe instead.

All 228 people onboard the Air France flight were killed when it crashed in the Atlantic.

But the two pensioners had barely managed to digest the terrible tragedy they had managed to avoid when they involved in a car accident.

Their vehicle crashed after veering across a road in Kufstein, Austria, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.

The car swerved into an oncoming truck and Mrs Ganthaler was killed.

    Her husband was seriously injured.

Mrs Ganthaler was from the Italian province of Bolzano-Bozen.

They were late for the plane, probably being late for something else that made her drive like a lunatic

    I think that's in part 5.

i think we should murder the husband. I mean, he's going to die anyway, and how often do you really get to murder someone in real life? 2 maybe 3 times, max. I think it'd be a learning process for all of us.

Old people shouldn't be allowed to drive, especially jet-lagged ones who just returned from Brazil. ( where the air france flight flew from )

There should be a driving age limit of 50 for women and 70 for men.

god it reminds of the film, oh whats it called...

And the reason for the discrimination is?

By the way, 50 is not old.

That wasn't my point. Go back and read the quoted part. It'll make sense, then.

    Public safety.

In that case why are 17 year-old boys allowed drive?

    They're cool.

Women are neither cool nor good drivers. You need at least 1.

I know this is the internet, and specifically after hours, but you guys are still all sick bastards if this is a true story. If it was someone you knew it might not seem as funny.

I know a lot of people I don't like and think the world would be better off without, and if they died in a way that is good for a chuckle all the better, especially if it would make for a good premise for a highly succesful movie franchise

I clicked on the link in the OP expected to read more of the story. Instead, I was led to a page for an entirely irrelevant film. I'm outraged.

And before then, they must be accompanied at all times by their great great great grand-parents, who must still be alive.

An Italian woman who arrived to the airport late for the fatal Air France flight 447 has died in a car accident, according to ANSA news agency.

Johanna Ganthaler, a pensioner from the Bolzano-Bozen Province (South Tyrol, Italy) and her husband, Kirk, were on vacation in Brazil and missed flight 447 after arriving to the airport late. They were able to board a later flight and avoided being victims of the horrible crash

I do think its kind of strange, that having just returned home to Paris after a holiday in Brazil, they then went to Austria.

never mind, found the answer to that, they flew to Europe, and were driving home to Italy, not Paris.

Statistically, Kirk was was the weakest link in that round but Johanna got the most votes. I'll get my coat, and close the door and my way out...:o

How do they know the woman was supposed to be on flight 447? Did they decide to check her flight details when they found her at the crash site, i don't know it just sounds weird that they would know she was supposed to be on the flight.

Anyway it's still unlucky. The woman must have been so relieved to have missed that flight only to have died in another incident.

    I found another one:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31030935/
Millvina Dean, who as a baby was wrapped in a sack and lowered into a lifeboat in the frigid North Atlantic, died Sunday, having been the last survivor of the 1912 sinking of the RMS Titanic.

She was 97 years old, and she died where she had lived — in Southampton, England, the city her family had tried to leave behind when it took the ship's ill-fated maiden voyage, bound for America.

She died in her sleep early Sunday, her friend Gunter Babler told the Associated Press. It was the 98th anniversary of the launch of the ship that was billed as "practically unsinkable."

    Creepy!

    Creepy!

And they do say deaths come in threes, anyone wanna start taking bets on who's gonna be the next one?

Mark Bosnich survived the Munich air disaster while he was still in his mothers womb as she was a passanger on the plane. Tenner on him biting the big one after slipping getting out of the bath by the end of the week
