I've never been that luck when it comes to "knowing someone".
I was in the NCT centre last night after been on the waiting list for over 2 months. While i was paying, the receptionist said to one of the mechanics who came out, "Im booking my friend in for 7pm tomorrow, the slot is free ok?"
I shook me head and said, "while the rest of us wait months for an appointment".

Ive only ever "known someone" once or twice that was able to do me favours that I wouldnt have got otherwise. My first car, my first Mac. But thats it really. :(

So what about you lot? Do you get freebies or cheapies? Are you a freemason? :D

Ah yeah i know a fair few people that could do favours like that.. Benefits of growing up in what would be considered a scumbag area and being friends with people in professional careers.
You get to know people that can help you out in any way.
Whether it's looking for a job or whether there's someone looking to kill you :p

    That name sounds familiar...

On a smaller scale, i haven't paid into a niteclub(in Carlow) in years, i don't have to pay for parking in Qpark carparks, i used to be able to get games, cd's or concert tickets the day before they went on sale.

I have a friend who works in RTE that can get me tickets to shows, and back to the green room if i want.

Its something ill never request because i wouldn't watch anything on RTE if i was paid!

Why would you bother booking?

Last time my friend went for the nct they walked in and said can I get it tested, said he was in a hurry and had no slot booked. H handed them €50, they tested it, and he left with certificate in hand. Simple.

    Waiting lists! f em :D

Next time I'll be doing the same :)

My car for one it was being sold for 3500 got it for 1500, 4 years later and the thing is in great nick.

Knowing someone or knowing someone who knows someone else has always been quite advantages for me. I love trickery!!

For instance almost all my jobs have been got by knowing someone, even a job I had in a big company when I lived in London was got as my aunt worked there and she had a chat with someone in there and a few weeks later I had a job!

However I did not get my current job by knowing someone.

    Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)
There is nothing we can do
    Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)

We just have to face it, this time were through
(this time were through, this time were through
This time were through, were really through)

Breaking up is never easy, I know but I have to go
(I have to go this time
I have to go, this time I know)
    Knowing me, knowing you
Its the best I can do

Knowing a hospital administrator helped me get out of hospital in under 24 hours after I had been stabbed... no way did I want to hang around there with all those sick people.

I once went without paying tax on my car for 19 months and when i went to pay the back tax on it I knew the girl behind the counter and she waived the back tax. That saved me about €900 approx.

You could have just got it signed of the road by a guard. I often do a stints without tax and just get it signed off before taxing it again.

Must be time to set up i-know-people.com, a central database for people to share favours and lists of the people they know.

If that doesn't work, we can set up ive-got-photos-of-you-and-i-want-things.com.
