Right, all this talk of lads on here doing an end to end has got me thinking about a nice, end of summer boards jaunt. How about doing a Mizen to Malin ride (with the prevailing winds see) in 2 days. Here's the route -548km of fairly flat riding, means that 2 days is definitely achievable.

    Plan would be
Day 1: Mizen Head to Athlone -300km
Day 2: Athlone to Malin Head - 248km

    Who's in!?

Knowing i am in Dublin, I'd prefer to do something like Dub - Galway - Malin - Dublin

Would that be two consecutive days?;)

I would be interested in doing some of the 1st day, but thats it.
I know that you have picked the route for distance and "doability" in 2 days, but that is one dull, ugly route.

Yes indeed! Was thinking of getting down to Cork on a Friday (possibly staying in Bantry) -early start from Mizen on the Saturday (6am start). Finish in Athlone about 8.30 (time based on the 300 for a few weeks back), and repeat on the Sunday from the midlands up to the North. Then either stay up there on the Sunday night, or if we can organise it, a lift back to Dublin on the Sunday while we sleep. It is a little dependant on getting some support to move us and stuff from Dublin - Bantry, to meet us in Athlone, and to meet us in Malin, but that may be wishful thinking!

I know it's a dull route, but getting an end to end under the belt would be really good

    That is very tempting.

I've been thinking of doing the 4 extreme points of Ireland for a while, something slightly different to the usual Mizen to Malin. But there'd be more fun and less organizing involved with doing Tinys one :D

No - I have a better Idea - Fixie Tour Of Leinster FTW

    Dublin ( Via Wexford )- Waterford - 188km
    Waterford ( Via Kilkenny/Portloise ) - Dublin - 183km

    Waterford is not in Leinster.

Actually the north side of Waterford city is in county Kilkenny, sorry for being a smart arse.

Sure why not take in each province as well? Or maybe it does. Might as well tick off a few challenges along the way :P

You just had to go and cross the line, didn't you... *sigh*

You should be thankful I didn't propose doing the M2M in one go!

I don't know, it is mostly all off N-roads at least. I've been in the environs of bits of it, generally crossing west-east, and it has all been pleasant enough. I think plan with this would be to do it in a well-organised tight paceline to maximise the aero benefits and keep up a reasonable speed throughout.

Agreed. Some of us have a tendancy to hammer off the front on our weekend spins. We all know who we are! Something like this would need discipline.
